李远哲教授

李远哲(Yuan Tseh Lee)院士一九三六年十一月二十九日生於台湾新竹县，一九五九年毕业於台湾大学化学系，一九六一年获台湾清华大学理学硕士学位。一九六二年赴美国深造，一九六五年获得加州大学柏克莱分校化学博士学位。李远哲教授以研究离子和分子交叉群的光谱闻名於世。一九七四年受聘为柏克莱大学专任教授，一九八六年获得诺贝尔化学奖。一九九四年辞去柏克莱大学专任教授和该大学劳伦斯实验所主要研究员职务，返回台湾，担任中央研究院院长。二零零六年成为中央研究院荣休院长和研究院杰出院士。

K. Siegbahn

Professlor K. Siegbahn (April 20, 1918 – July 20, 2007) was a Swedish Physicist. He was born in Lund, Sweden, and his father M. Siegbahn earned his doctorate at the University of Stockholm in 1944. He shared the 1981 Nobel Prize in Physics with N. Bloembergen and A. Schawlow for their work in spectroscopy. Siegbahn obtained the Nobel Prize for developing the method of Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA), now usually described as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
